Before and After

At one time in its history, an evaporative cooling system was added to this house. This happened in the days before flexible, economical and efficient aluminized mylar ducting material was available, so this homely duct, visibly hung from the hallway ceiling, was the only exit point for the evaporative cooler. During rehabilitation, this duct was sealed off and plastered over. The newer evaporative master cooler ducts were reworked to tie in with the air conditioner, which enters each room through the ceilings.

For over 70 years this hallway to the bedrooms and bath was a gloomy passage illuminated by a single light. But now in this brilliantly lit hall, you can fully enjoy all its lovely features, highlighted on this site in the Architectural Details section.
